Help advance research into neurological disease.

Make a difference
The operations of the Institute Born-Bunge are funded through income from its own assets and through grants from national and international organizations.
However, these funds alone are not sufficient to fully realize our mission. Fortunately, it is possible to support our neurological research through patronage, donations, gifts, and legacies helping us move closer to our goals.

Why support IBB?
Your donation helps preserve and grow IBB’s invaluable resources.
Advancing the science that changes lives
Neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, ALS, and rare nerve and muscle diseases are among the most complex and devastating medical challenges of our time. They affect millions of people often silently, progressively, and without cure. At the Institute Born-Bunge, we are committed to unraveling these diseases at their root. Through decades of research and a unique neurological biobank, we aim to improve early diagnosis, develop better treatments, and ultimately prevent or slow down these conditions.
Your support helps make this possible.

A meaningful way to contribute
Donating to scientific research is one of the most impactful ways to support not just individuals, but society as a whole. Many of our supporters have a personal connection to neurological illness, whether through a loved one, their own experience, or a desire to invest in a healthier future. Supporting Institute Born-Bunge means joining a community of people who believe in science with a purpose. It’s a way to transform compassion into lasting progress.
What your support enables
Your gift directly contributes to:
-
Groundbreaking neurological research
Including studies on Alzheimer’s, epilepsy, dementia, and rare neuromuscular conditions. -
Maintenance and expansion of our biobank
One of the largest and most valuable brain tissue collections in Europe, used in varies international collaborations. -
Training the next generation of researchers
Supporting PhD students, postdocs, and visiting scientists who carry forward the legacy of discovery. -
New diagnostic tools and technologies
Investing in innovative methods to detect disease earlier and more accurately.
A legacy worth preserving
Behind every scientific breakthrough lies an infrastructure of care, precision, and dedication. Maintaining a biobank of this scale and importance with tens of thousands of meticulously documented brain and tissue samples is both scientifically and logistically demanding.
Each sample is linked to detailed clinical, genetic, and pathological data. It must be carefully processed, preserved, and stored under tightly controlled conditions. This requires specialized equipment, trained staff, secure data systems, and high capacity freezers that operate at -80°C, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
In addition, we cover the cost of brain autopsies for individuals or families who have chosen to donate tissue after death. These procedures involve trained pathologists, laboratory technicians, and specific infrastructure. They are essential to advancing research into complex brain diseases, but are rarely covered by traditional funding mechanisms.
That is why philanthropic support, through donations, gifts, legacies, or structural partnerships, is so important. It helps us preserve and expand a century old scientific resource. Every contribution helps protect and grow a unique collection that becomes more valuable with each sample, each study, and each discovery.
Your support allows us to continue this mission with the care, quality, and commitment it deserves.
